FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
UPS MAINTENANCE TONIGHT:
Our UPS will be undergoing routine maintenance tonight (2/26) starting at 9:00pm. The maintenance should only take approximately thirty minutes to an hour. We don't anticipate any down time but in the event that something should go wrong, some services will be affected, such as Enterprise, CCS email, Workflows, etc, until the UPS is back up.
NEW CCS WEBSITE:
The new CCS website is still undergoing development and testing. For those who are interested in tracking the progress as we move forward, please visit this link http://development.basecampweb.com/
You may obtain the username and password, for the Members Only page, from your Administrator or Maintenance
Coordinator.
CCS STAFF UPDATE:
Frank Correa, our Systems Engineer, continues to be out on medical leave, for at least another month, until his next doctor’s appointment to see if he can get released to come back to work. As a reminder, please submit a WonderDesk ticket for any issues and for immediate issues, please call the CCS Computer Room directly.
ENTERPRISE UPDATE:
As of February 26, we have been moved temporarily to a larger and isolated instance of Enterprise to facilitate work on fixing the slowness caused by our running Delta harvests (changes from the Symphony database). We have suspended such harvests during peak service hours for the time being.
We also have the latest ProPay patch which should alleviate the lion’s share of duplicate/incomplete transactions. We are watching to see how many anomalies occur going forward, but part of this seems to involve operator error (close out a screen too quickly, click a button again) so we may have chalk a few up to The Human Condition.
In-house, Joel Hahn is working on some improvements to printing from lists, and we are evaluating the feasibility of a local solution to provide a non-bar code Enterprise user ID option (with staff having to enter the information). BiblioCommons is able and willing (for a fee) to provide a list of bar codes and the associated user ID, which would be helpful if this looks workable. We are also looking at how we can add maps showing where in the library an item is located (we haven’t forgotten the interest shown at PLA last March in StackMap), and whether we can present Enterprise with responsive design to accommodate mobile devices better.
We are waiting for SirsiDynix to move ahead with the development of enhancements for ProPay, their standard user ID solution and improved list functionality.
Here’s to better days ahead!
BLUECLOUD ANALYTICS TRAINING GUIDE:
We recently sent out the link and access info to play with BlueCloud Analytics. SirsiDynix has now published a Training Guide. We have posted it on our web site but here is a direct link. Please contact us if you need the connectivity information again.
