FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:

Frozen Java – there appear to be a number of incidents where Java is frozen. This tip from the LINC Consortium might help.

How to Recover From "Frozen" Java Workflows Session
Occasionally Java Workflows will appear to be frozen. You will be unable to enter or scan text into a text entry field, but you are still able to click on buttons and in menus. To recover from this problem without having to restart Workflows try the following:
Click on the "Help" menu. Then click "About..." in the help menu. Then click "OK" on the "About" screen. You should now be able to use Workflows normally, including scanning and entering text.
Thanks LINC!!

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that with the Java client it’s now possible to print a specific tab from a patron’s record without using the Print Screen option under the File menu? Patrons often ask libraries to print a list of their outstanding bills, holds, or check outs and the way to get this information is to view the patron’s record with the Display User wizard. But in the initial release of Unicorn GL3.0 it was not possible to print a single tab of information from a patron’s record; your only choice was to print the entire record – including the Extended Info tab with any notes or comments that may be listed there. This was unacceptable to most libraries and Sirsi’s work-around was to provide the Print Screen option under the File menu to allow displaying and printing an HTML page containing just one tab of patron data.

But since CCS installed the latest Patch Cluster upgrade, there’s now a Helper button called Print User that appears at the top of the Display User screen and it allows you to select a single tab of data for printing. Clicking the helper brings up a window that lists all user tabs and lets you select a single tab, multiple tabs, or all tabs in the record by placing a checkmark in the appropriate box(es) and printing only your selection(s). The Display User wizard is the only place you’ll find the new Print User button, but you can still use the File/Print Screen option to print other blocks of data when the normal Print wizard is not available. – Ken Victorson
