FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
iBistro Status: We have had two relatively good weekends with iBistro response time. However, behind the scenes Sirsi engineers and CCS staff are still monitoring, collecting data and dialoging. We are focusing our joint efforts for analysis on Sunday afternoons, when response time seems to be most at risk. There have been no further conclusions, although we have seen that turning off the material type and format icons in iBistro can relieve stress on the system. We will only turn them off if absolutely necessary.

Memorial Day Weekend: Summer is almost here! The Computer Room will be staffed on Saturday May 24, and Sunday May 25, but we will be closed on Memorial Day, May 26.

Local Notice Printing: Seven libraries have now tested the new notice format which will be printed locally.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that we now have a CCS Wiki for Director’s Station users and will soon have one available for Java users as well? For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, a Wiki is a web page where information on a common topic can be shared among participants. Users can contribute new documents on that subject or modify existing ones. For example, the popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia is a well known site where anyone can contribute or update articles on topics in which they have expertise.

In the next few days, everyone who attended the Director’s Station Webex training, or the DS Technical Group meeting, will receive an email message from PBwiki (the DSWiki web page host) on my behalf inviting you to join the CCS Director’s Station Wiki. This message will contain a link to a PBwiki introductory page which will, in turn, connect you to the Director’s Station Wiki. (After reading the introduction, click on the “Now go to PBwiki” button.)

At about the same time, you will also receive a second message from me with login, password, and other user information. Follow the included directions to access the Director’s Station Wiki and you can start reading or editing postings to the Wiki, or adding new ones of your own. We invite all users to visit the Director's Station Wiki regularly to take advantage of our shared database of DS knowledge. Posting might include tips about using Director’s Station, sample reports developed by other users, or guidelines how to use a particular Director's Station function.
