CCS News

MAY 22, 2009

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Upgrade to 3.2.1 – At this moment all is ready for our upgrade to 3.2.1. In the libraries, your staff will be monitoring the System-status-l list for upgrade bulletins. The upgrade will commence at the close of the business day on Sunday. We will post a few progress reports throughout the day on Monday. On Monday night our overnights should be running in catch-up mode. On Tuesday we will start to post bulletins from the Computer Room at 6:30 am.

New Machine
– A new 300 pound server has been installed in the computer room. This is truly what you call a BIG server. It is a Sun M5000 box. This will eventually be used to upgrade our existing 890 production Workflows server. By the way, this new server has no impact on our Memorial Day upgrade. It is due to Murphy’s Law that we are working on both of these projects at the same time.

AUTHORITIES UPDATE:

I loaded 1684 updated authority records this week that were sent from Marcive. Marcive also sent 397 new authority records that CCS needed, but that were not available before.

After next week’s system upgrade, more bibliographic records will be sent to Marcive for authorities processing.
