FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Patron Holds: A couple of libraries have reported issues with holds. So far we have found nothing conclusive in the way of computer error. When you report a problem, please use the help desk and include the following 3 things: Patron Barcode, Title, and Item ID. With this information we can run a log scan and try to find out the issue or problem if there is any with the system. Some that we have found were just human error, but we are always willing to look at these incidents.
Vacation: Willie will be on vacation next week, if you have calls or are working with him directly, please be aware of this. If it is something urgent you are working on with him, or need something, please call the computer room and we will be happy to help you.
SUBJECT HEADINGS ON THE MOVE:
The Library of Congress is keeping themselves (and me) busy with lots of subject heading changes. All changed headings include references from their previous heading.
All insurance headings are now in direct language order, so what was “Insurance, Life” is now “Life insurance” and so forth.
Travelogue headings have been totally split between “Travelogues (Motion pictures)” and “Travelogues (Television programs)”.
What was “Thrillers (Motion pictures, television, etc.)” is now split between “Thrillers (Motion pictures)” and “Thrillers (Television programs)”.
Thank you,

IBISTRO TRAFFIC:
We ran some rough numbers on September 17 and found that iBistro is handling about 19,000 searches per day, 3,000 or so hourly (50 per minute) during peak time.
We hope nobody took too big a hit at work or home from the floods!
