FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:

Assumed Lost Report:
For those libraries that use the Assumed Lost report:
There is a bug in the Assumed Lost process that prevents patrons who are already in collections from being processed by the report. Once the patron is in collections, long overdue items not already billed will not be picked up by the process.  Therefore, billable amounts for these long overdue items are not sent to Unique. Please have someone from your staff open a Wonderdesk ticket and request that the Assumed Lost Companion report be run for your library as a work around to the bug.  Details about using the Companion report will be conveyed through the ticket.

AUTHORITIES NEWS:
CCS has been keeping Marcive busy the last two week, or maybe it’s the other way around? Last week, CCS loaded a file of updated authority records (2476 of them, with 360 new matches).  This week, CCS sent 9731 bibliographic records to Marcive for authorities processing, & 3203 were returned. They also sent 3404 new authority records. All new or updated records have been loaded into our system.

NEW CCS STAFF MEMBER
:
We are very pleased to announce that Jonathan Padilla will begin as CCS IT Systems Manager (following Linda Zaleski) on Monday, November 18.

Jonathan is still young by CCS standards, but has 14 years of experience in the library automation technology and consortia game, knows the turf well and has a broad range of technology and network skills.  He began working part time at MAGIC in Geneva in 1998 while still in his teens, progressed to full time there, and has been at Clackamas County (Oregon) for the last roughly seven years.  He has been doing network management and Symphony administration, including rolling out Enterprise this month for his consortium. He already has his sights set on our web site and encryption.  He has gotten glowing reviews, and we welcome his knowledge, enthusiasm, understanding of the customer service environment in which we operate, and a fresh and contemporary viewpoint which we think will be of great value to CCS.  He will be taking a little leave in early-mid December while his wife gives birth; we appreciate that his motivation to join us is sufficient to make the transition even at this complicated time in his family life. We look forward to his joining us with excitement as we move into our next phase.

CCS MEETING NEXT WEEK:

Mon., 11/4, 2:00, CCS: Budget & Finance Committee
