FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Weather-related outages – We found that the wet weather did affect communication lines as well as our telephony system (SVA). On Thursday, April 18, shortly after flooding began, one library experienced communication problems due to the severe wet weather conditions. They could not connect to Workflows, but fortunately were able to connect using a backup connection. The outage was confirmed by ICN. Later in the day we experienced problems with SVA which were also attributed to telephone line problems. Due to the wet weather conditions, the system did not answer patron phone calls for a short time in the afternoon.
CONGRATULATIONS to Juli Janovicz, who will succeed the retiring Peggy Hamil (whom we also congratulate) as Director at Glencoe during the first week of June.
