FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Where can I find the CCS Directory? I lost my paper copy, hmmmm? Well now we have it posted on the CCS web page on the Sirsi Resource Page; look for the link on the bottom named “CCS Directory.” The document is available in PDF format, so it can be viewed, printed, or saved. – Frank
Staff are special – when testing, please check the Profile of the patron record you are using. Often reports have come to the help desk and we learn that the record had a shared Profile of STAFF or XXXSTAFF. These shared staff Profiles don't behave the same as the non-shared Profiles which are issued to the public. You should use a patron with the same Profile that you give to members of the public.
LIBRARY CLOSINGS:
Lake Villa will be closing Friday morning, February 29th for our annual Staff Development Day. The library will open to the public at 2:00 that day.
The Wilmette Public Library will be closed for a Staff Institute Day on Friday, February 22, 2008. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, February 23rd.
AUTHORITIES UPDATE:
CCS sent approx. 3570 bibliographic records to Marcive on Wednesday, Feb. 20th for Overnight Authorities Processing. The records have been processed and were reloaded into our system, so full cataloging may resume. Of the 3570 bibliographic records, Marcive returned 1150 updated bibliographic records. Marcive also sent us 1438 new authority records. CCS will be sending groups of records for processing each month, so that our database will be kept up to date as much as possible.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that you can customize Java toolbars on your workstation by using the Local Toolbar Management option found under Preferences on the Java Menu Bar? Changes will be saved to the PC where the modifications were made and will be visible to everyone using the same login (that was used for customizing) on that workstation. Customizing toolbars should prove useful for departments that commonly use wizards found in different parts of the client or do not use all of the wizards that come with the delivered version of Java. For example, ILL and Public Services staff often use some functions on the Circulation toolbar but not others, and would benefit from removing extraneous wizards from their toolbars.
In order to save the toolbar changes so that they will be available the next time you use WorkFlows, you must login with your normal login & password. You do not need an Administrative login, either for the Workstation or for WorkFlows to customize your toolbar.
I’ve created a document called “Customizing Java Toolbars” and posted it on the CCS web page. It provides step-by-step instructions for customizing your tool bar to reflect your personal preferences when working with Java WorkFlows. The “Customizing Java Toolbars” document can be found on the Sirsi Resources link of the CCS web page, under the Documented Procedures heading. – Ken Victorson
