FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
SYMPHONY BETA TESTING:
As a reminder, the latest beta version of Symphony, Release 3.5 RC2, has been installed on our Test Server. An email has been sent out to the proper lists which contains the test server IP address or you may obtain it by contacting the CCS Computer Room. It is available for testing through January. Sirsi is especially interested in having us look at the new ProPay reports.
Below is a link to the (mercifully brief) Release Notes. Sirsi has suggested that in general, that document should be the guide for beta testing. Catalogers will also want to look at the fix to the Smartport 006 tag issue (first item on page 12 of the Release Notes).
We welcome your feedback.
Here’s the link, both with & without text:

AUTHORITIES NEWS:
Over the past two weeks, three files were loaded into the CCS database. Two of the files contained updated authority records and there were 14,480 of them The third file contained 227 new authority records that were needed in our database, but were not available before this time.
Over the next few weeks, there will still be more updated authority records to be loaded. Those records are the last of the authority records that the Library of Congress has updated so that they will be aligned with RDA, our new cataloging rules.
