FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Novelist Select – stay tuned for announcements regarding implementation of Novelist Select. Our target is to have this live on November 2 for the libraries to access through iBistro. As of this writing (Wednesday morning) we have been doing some testing and it is working well on Firefox, but we are working through a few glitches with Internet Explorer. By the time you read this, we hope to have all the glitches ironed out.
Days Items Are Not Due – this is usually called the table of “closed dates”. These have been updated now for most of the libraries through 2010. For changes to your original list, (such as an added in-service day) please submit these using the Wonderdesk – do not send updates directly to Linda. ALSO, A REMINDER: PLEASE SUBMIT THESE DATES BEFORE THEY AFFECT YOUR DUE DATES.
Epay/Sirsi Integration – there are two more libraries that we will be adding to ePay/Sirsi integration soon. These are Huntley and Des Plaines.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE CCS STAFF!

OCTOBER 23, 2009
FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
EPAY – The ability for patrons to pay fines using the EPAY system has been quite successful. We now have 8 libraries who are using the EPAY feature with iBistro.
New Report, Cumulative Patron Stats CAT2 – There is a new monthly Excel report that you will see in the web reports. It was first run in October and includes statistics from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2008. It is called Cumulative Patron Stats CAT2 and was designed to help gather RBP information for the IPLAR reports.
Subject heading changes and other Authorities News - The Library of Congress is once again flipping headings so that they are in direct order - we've had Buddhist, Hindu, and some Christian headings changed. Now the newest batch of changes involve Jewish headings. So subject headings like, Art, Jewish" and "Marriage customs and rites, Jewish" have been changed to "Jewish art" and "Jewish marriage customs and rites".
Also the subject headings for "Domestics" and "Women domestics" have been changed to "Household employees" and "Women household employees".
By the time you read this CCS News, all affected bibliographic records have been changed.
Also this week, MARCIVE sent CCS 1434 updated authority records and 414 new authority records that were not available before.

OCTOBER 2, 2009
FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Help Desk – Thank you for using the Wonderdesk Help Desk for logging incidents. This is the very best way we have for the CCS team to collaborate to answer your questions, track progress and deal with issues.
EPAY is fixed – as you might have noted from the S-help list – ePAY is being worked on. We have discovered and fixed two problems that occur ONLY when the patron partially pays off a fine through WORKFLOWS. Sirsi was quick to respond and ePAY appears to be working now as of this writing. This means we will be able to continue our implementation of ePAY for libraries desiring this feature.
LIBRARY CLOSING:
Winnetka-Northfield will be closed Friday, October 2, for a Staff Day.
SUBJECT HEADING CHANGES:
LC is changing all the Hindu and some Christian subject headings so that they are in direct order (like what they did earlier this year with the Buddhists). So for headings like “Mythology, Hindu” ,“Gods, Hindu”, “Heresies, Christian”, and “Stewardship, Christian”, use the term “Hindu mythology”, “Hindu gods”, “Christian heresies”, and “Christian stewardship”.
Another important subject heading change is from “Women in politics” to “Women – Political activity”.
And for all those “Ice road trucker” fans, the subject heading of “Roads, Ice” has been changed to “Ice crossings”.
For all these headings and other similar terms, all affected bibliographic records have been changed in our database.
Virginia R. Seward
CCS Authorities Librarian
(Editor’s Note: We join Virginia in appreciating the job security the Library Of Congress is providing for her.)
CCS MEETINGS NEXT WEEK:
None, due mostly to ILA. Please take a look at Sirsi’s Enterprise 3.0 if you go, and enjoy!)
