FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
STAFFING – this week we have been hit with the double whammy of illness while staff are on vacation. We are still here, however, 8:00-9:15 each weekday, but may be a bit slower getting to new non-urgent incidents. Our vacation times are posted on the news page of the Web site.
HOLDS - we should see trapped items which were on the Pick List always filling the highest priority hold starting on July 31. This was a slight change that is taking effect after discussing the matter with the ILL group. As a result, if a picked item is put on hold by one of your local patrons before you pull it from the shelves, your local patron should get it and another item will be picked for the original hold.
DIRECTOR’S STATION:
We must give Sirsi some props for diligent work cleaning up the after-effects of the last two Director’s Station upgrades. Speed is back within the normal range, the ability to list in shelflist order has been restored, and we have a better understanding of some other functionality. Reed Farnsworth and Michelle Shaunce spearheaded an intensive effort to address our concerns. Thanks also to those who waved the flag about this at ALA; it clearly got Sirsi’s attention.
FUN WITH IPLARS:
It’s the magical time of year when most of our libraries are working on their Annual Reports (IPLARs). The database can’t generate all the requested information, but we do what we can, working with individual libraries. More explanation can be found on the CCS web site at:
