FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
UNIVERSAL ADMIN:
SirsiDynix has released Universal Admin 2015.02, the latest version for BLUEcloud libraries. Libraries in North America began using this version on Thursday, March 5. This release includes both feature additions and bug fixes. Highlights include:
BLUEcloud Commerce
Enhancements:
All payment fields cleared after a payment is submitted: To increase security, all fields on the payment page will be cleared after each payment attempt.
Fixes:
BCP-166 Notify ILS of payment only upon success: Certain failed payments still caused the ILS to get notified that the payment occurred. To rectify this, we now require all payment data to be confirmed before notifying the ILS that a fine was paid.
BCP-167 Duplicate payment checking is failing: Patrons that either left the payment page while a payment was processing or received certain errors did not realize the transaction was complete and led to multiple attempts and multiple charges. Now, when the patron attempts to pay the fine again within five minutes of the first attempt, they will be notified that the payment is a duplicate.
MobileCirc
Enhancements:
Added for Infinite Peripherals printersto MobileCirc iOS: Support was added for the Infinite Peripherals (IPC) DPP series of Bluetooth printers under iOS. Additionally, native apps can indicate which printers they support, and if this information is provided, the Setup page will include those options.
Highlight overdue items in red: In a list of items checked out to a user, any overdue items are now highlighted in red and marked with an alert symbol so they can be differentiated from other items easily.
Fixes:
MBC-132 Customized Policy List policies are not showing in MobileCirc: If a user selected all of the policies for the Customize Policy List wizard, none of the policies displayed in MobileCirc. This has been fixed and the policies are now displayed in MobileCirc as expected.
MBC-151 Long data strings in the About page do not wrap: When using MobileCirc on smaller screens, long text strings on the About page did not wrap around and were truncated instead. This has been fixed and the text now wraps around.
Known Issues
Apple iOS8and later Codabar support: With Apple’s release of iOS8, the Apple device cameras will no longer read Codabar barcodes. Apple decided not to include this symbology in their libraries. The original SDK that MobileCirc has used in the past also does not support the iOS8 change. SirsiDynix is waiting for updates to these libraries and once Apple includes Codabar once again, we will update MobileCirc to work with it. If Apple does not update its SDK to provide support for Codabar by Q3 2015, SirsiDynix will review use of a different SDK in order to regain support for Codabar barcodes via the device camera. In the meantime, iOS7 and earlier versions should work with the Apple device cameras. The Bluetooth scanners that were tested with MobileCirc, once paired to the Apple devices, are also able to scan Codabar barcodes without problems.
BookMyne for Android
Enhancements:
Preview button on Details screen: A Preview button appears on the Title Details screen to display first chapters and excerpts when provided by Syndetics.
Syndetics Professional Reviews: A "Professional Reviews" tab appears on the Title Details screen when this content is provided by Syndetics.
Syndetics Author Notes: An "Author Notes" tab appears on the Title Details screen when this content is provided by Syndetics.
Syndetics Summaries: A "Summaries" tab appears on the Title Details screen when this content is provided by Syndetics.
Fixes:
DC-692 BookMyne can't handle multiple checkouts of the same title: Attempting to access checkouts when multiple items associated with the same title were checked out caused the Checkouts page to time out without ever loading. This problem has been corrected so that all checked-out items are displayed.
DC-769 Validate email for eRC holds: When an invalid email addres swas entered while placing a hold on an eRC title, an "undefined" error was returned to the user. This has been corrected. Now entering an invalid email address displays the message "Please enter your email address (sample@email.com).
