CCS News November 14, 2014

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
SIP2 PORTS
We have been receiving numerous SIP2 requests, and this is "Something You Should Know".  A SIP2 Port install takes four to six weeks minimum from start to finish.  Please allow enough time (six weeks) to receive the new SIP port configuration.  The first step is to open a Help Desk Ticket and include all the information about the type of SIP port that is needed.  It is also a good idea to see if the vendor you will be dealing with is a Sirsi Certified Partner, which makes the process a little easier.  Once you have the ticket opened, please send Bonnie Owens a purchase order for the SIP port configuration and reference the Help Desk ticket number.  This information is forwarded to Sirsi who will set up a date for the port to be configured.  Please keep in mind that the information that is needed (IP, Login, etc.) can be found in the Help Desk Ticket as it is updated throughout the process.  The Help Desk Ticket allows any member of the CCS Computer Room staff to follow the process especially anticipating staff vacations that are scheduled over the upcoming holidays.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Frank Correa in the Computer Room for any further assistance.

SMS IS ALIVE
After in-house testing the last few weeks with the Lake Villa staff, the library has now started offering SMS to their patrons.  We still have only a few libraries testing the latest implementation of SMS and look forward to bringing those live soon.  If your library is interested, please open a Help Desk ticket to begin the process.

INSTALLATION OF SYMPHONY 3.5 ON THE TEST SERVER
The Test Server will be offline all day on Monday, 11/17/2014 to prepare for the installation of Symphony 3.5 on the Test Server.

CLOSED DATES FOR 2015
All of the 2015 closed dates for the libraries have been entered into each library's configuration in WorkFlows.  If you need to make a correction or addition, please submit a Help Desk ticket and we will adjust accordingly.

REMINDER:
MobileCirc Training Session on November 20, 2014 at Lake Villa
Just a reminder that there will be a MobileCirc training webinar on November 20 at 9:00 AM, graciously hosted by Lake Villa District Library.  We haven't heard from 14 libraries regarding attendance so if you are planning on going but have not replied to the original s-help email, please let Jim O'Day (joday@ccs.nsls.lib.il.us) know how many will be attending so we can get an accurate head count.

AUTHORITY NEWS:
Two files from Marcive were loaded into our system this week.  One contained 2,737 updated authority records and the other contained 302 new authority records that were needed in our database, but were not available before this time.
