CCS News

SEPTEMBER 18, 2009

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
iBistro – based on discussion that we recently had at the Maintenance Coordinators Meeting, we will be conducting additional testing on HTTPS for iBistro with one of the libraries to increase our security for iBistro. We have also had complaints that some customers are unable to use iBistro as their internet providers “balk” at the numeric ip address used instead of a domain name. We are working on solving this by associating a domain name, and will have an announcement soon.

Network Guidelines – for those of you who were not at the September 15 Maintenance Coordinators meeting, we will be issuing more information on Best Practices for networks and especially wireless connectivity that can be applied in the libraries. The key documents have been sent out to Maintenance Coordinators and Governing Board packet recipients, and will soon be posted on the CCS web site.

Rebuild Text – Our projected 5-8 AM down time on Friday, Sept. 18 is to correct an indexing issue which causes duplicate record display, triggered when the system choked on a too-large record we received back from Marcive.

DUNDEE OPEN HOUSE:
Reminder: the newly renovated Dundee library is having a celebratory Open House on Friday, Sept. 25, 4-7 PM. Full details can be found in last week’s CCS News.
