FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
New Router – our new ICN router went in on Thursday morning.
Director’s Station – we continue to work on the Director’s Station problems with Sirsi, and have escalated these serious issues. We had a good conference call with Sirsi staff on July 23 and are testing some adjustments and awaiting others.
First available copy at pickup library to trap holds turned off – we have requested that Sirsi turn this new feature of Release 3.2.1 off since doing so was agreed to by the Governing Board. This should not take more than a few days and we will let you know when it takes effect.
Vacations – We will be rotating vacations through the rest of the summer. We post vacations on the NEWS section of the Wonderdesk, so that you know your favorite computer room staffer is away.
AUTHORITIES NEWS:
CCS sent 5210 bibliographic records to Marcive on Wednesday, July 22nd for Overnight Authorities Processing. The records have been processed and were reloaded into our system. Of the 5210 bibliographic records, Marcive returned 1933 updated bibliographic records. Marcive also sent us 2408 new authority records.
For their usual monthly updates, Marcive updated 1737 authority records that they knew we own, and also sent 575 new authority records that they knew CCS needed, but were not available before.

ORDERED HOLD FILL:
On July 22 the Governing Board voted to begin a three month trial starting Sept. 1 of Sirsi’s Ordered Hold Fill functionality. This allows each library to specify where the Pick List looks first on its behalf for available items to fill holds. During the trial, the priority order would be:
1) a library’s branch(es) if it wishes
2) libraries after it on the same delivery route
3) all other CCS libraries
In theory this will mean that libraries get more items to fill holds the same day they are trapped, or at least a day sooner than items from libraries on another route or after them on the same route, and that less items will need to go to NSLS for sorting before delivery. It will necessitate libraries having a separate bin or bag for each library after it on its delivery route.
Gathering statistics for comparison purposes will start August 1. We are doing an internal review at CCS but hope that libraries will not need to do any new counting and that we can us existing data such as items sent by each library to each other library per month for Ill and hold fill rates. There will be an announcement next week.
