FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
CCS GOING VIRTUAL:
As part of our long range plan, CCS has purchased and received all hardware necessary to deploy its virtual environment. The virtual environment hypervisor will be Citrix XenServer. This virtual environment will allow CCS to proceed with other long range goals such as network and app monitoring via nagios and opsview, new email server via zimbra, new inventory and possible ticketing system via Spiceworks, new web server to host new CCS website based on Joomla, Windows Server 2012 R2 AD environment for central user authentication and others. It will also be used for test environments to allow us to research new services/applications without impacting our live environments.
CCS STAFF:
As a reminder, we are still down one IT staff member (Frank Correa) for an unknown time. Please submit any requests via WonderDesk to ensure it gets attended to accordingly.
SIRSIDYNIX SOLD:
SirsiDynix announced on January 7 hat Vista Equity, the venture capital firm which has owned Sirsi for the past seven years, has sold the company to ICV Partners. Links to the Sirsi press release and Marshall Breeding’s analysis are below. We concur with the sentiment that this seems far preferable to being part of another vendor consolidation, but of course it’s too soon to assess the true impact.
