FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
CCS WEBSITE REDESIGN:
The new CCS website is making headway. We are working very closely with Diane Cleaver, our website designer, on the layout, format, content and color scheme of the website. We hope to have a mockup available for review soon, albeit without full functionality.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS LIBRARY ACCOUNTS: CCS has created a Google Analytics account for each library to use for viewing your Enterprise statistics. Please watch for a memo to be emailed to the PAS and Admin groups on Monday, December 15th with the details.
SYMPHONY RELEASE 3.5 BETA TESTING:
We are prepping the Test Server over what we hope will be a time measured in days, after which we will copy over data from the Production Server and then load Symphony Release 3.5 for beta testing through January. We are especially interested in having libraries test the new ProPay reports. Other than that, we suggest following the Release Notes (to which we will soon post a link) as a basis for testing. Happily, they’re pretty short, only a couple dozen pages.
BLUECLOUD ANALYTICS:
Believe it or not, after years of waiting, we now have a pilot installation of BlueCloud Analytics (the successor to Director’s Station) functioning. In the next week we’ll send out details to libraries on how to connect and what to look for and not look for. Initially only circ data is available; it will be followed in imminent releases by user data and then the ability to integrate outside databases such as Google Analytics and census data. This is progress; stay tuned!
AUTHORITIES NEWS:
Two files from Marcive were loaded into our system this week. One contained 3549 updated authority records and the other contained 480 new authority records that were needed in our database, but were not available before this time.
More updated authority records will be loaded over the next few weeks. Library of Congress has just released the last batch of authority records that were updated so that they will be aligned with RDA, our new cataloging rules.
