FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Enterprise trial – there is little change in status as we wait for SirsiDynix to change to a faster server. We will let you know when they are able to do so.
Staff absences – it is that time of year again. Bob will be gone the week of August 12, Frank will be gone the week of August 19 and Linda will be gone the week of August 26. As always, please make use of the Wonderdesk so all staff may see your requests. If you have a special immediate need, please call the computer room 847-342-5303 and staff will be there to assist you.
CCS AND RDA: Every now and then we get asked when CCS will be “all the way to RDA.” The short answer is: when vendors and databases are ready. At this point both are still working to accommodate and populate the new fields. We think true readiness is a year or two away. An approach will be incorporated into the next CCS Three Year Plan update early next year and appropriate ensuing budgets, but we can be pretty confident that nothing more tangible than that (and continued learning and preparing) will happen in the next year.
