CCS News

OCTOBER 14, 2011

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM
:
Passwords in Workflows, iBistro and BiblioCommons – Passwords in iBistro have always been normalized to uppercase. All passwords in Workflows are upper case as well (or should be). We noticed early in our BiblioCommons experience that some passwords were being recorded in lower case by BiblioCommons. This was changed immediately to be consistent with iBistro but a few records slipped through. There are only a few records in the database with this problem and they are mostly staff (except for one library, and we have talked to them). If you have difficulty signing into BiblioCommons and iBistro and you changed your password when we first got BiblioCommons please go into Workflows and check to see if your password is lower case and change it to upper case in Workflows itself.

Statewide cooperation – CCS is participating with other Illinois libraries and consortia (SWAN, PrairieCat, Rockford Public Library and North Suburban Library District) in a cooperative effort to check patron status from one Patron Barcode Search Interface. These libraries can query our database for patron status (only!) and we are setting up the reciprocal capabilities at this time. An email message went out earlier in the week to circulation, Administrators and Maintenance Coordinators about setting up the service.

DIRECTOR’S STATION: Thanks and congratulations to Willie Balitaan for working with Sirsidynix to orchestra the latest Director’s Station upgrade on October 10. There’s still a small punch list, but the upgrade does bring soem remedies and progress.

CCS MEETINGS NEXT WEEK:

None! (But enjoy ILA if you’re going!)
