FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Director’s Station – We plan to upgrade the Director’s Station software and will commence this work the afternoon of Wednesday, March 9. This upgrade should be complete by Friday, March 11. If you have any important statistics to generate early this month via Director’s Station, please be sure your work is finished by March 9.
Bibliographic Problems this week – We had a problem which occurred on Monday evening, when about 40,000 records were inadvertently checked out to Evanston’s Storage Location. The group was quickly checked back in, but had to be re-indexed during the course of the evening processing. That number of records is too big to be processed in one evening, so the overnight processing ran with errors and you saw those errors on Tuesday as record locking errors. The locking errors were cleared up and with SirsiDynix’s help we are re-indexing the 40,000 records over a few nights. This should all be cleared up by Saturday morning. In the meantime we will see anomalies in accessing some records. If you need more information, please contact the computer room via WonderDesk or by phone for critical situations.
BiblioCommons – our launches are continuing and we are happy to tell you that ePay has been fixed and will no longer process accrued fines. We can tell you are busy by the number of WonderDesk Incidents that you are opening up with questions. Usually we have about 50 incidents active and yesterday we had 160. We are getting to these as fast as we can and so is BiblioCommons. When reporting a BiblioCommons problem, be sure that you include all the steps, the browser, item record, patron record and password. If you were able to replicate the problem you can send that information for the replicated occurrence. For all content related problems, include the ISBN and test to see if the problem also occurs in iBistro. If it does then please report it as an iBistro problem. Configuration changes WILL be addressed but may take a lower priority as the configurations should all be complete.
