FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
iBistro – our new iBistro server was delivered Thursday morning (August 14) and Sirsi will be out to install it on Monday/Tuesday of next week. Then we will keep it offline and run it though a battery of tests and be sure it is fit to put on the network. We would like to plan tentatively on an iBistro live cutover date/time of the evening of September 2 or 3. We will know more next week. A lot has to happen between then and now, so please stay tuned.
Notices – the last group of libraries will switch to local notice printing the week of August 27.
Health and vacation report – The big news is that BOB IS BACK. But Bob will be working on a very abbreviated schedule for several weeks at least. He will be able to do some of his normal tasks, but we definitely insist that he follows doctors orders and paces himself. Anyone who has suffered such an injury knows what we mean! Linda has returned from vacation and now has lots of energy, and Frank will be on a definitely well-earned vacation August 15 – August 25. If there are any time-critical matters that are not getting the attention you need, please do not hesitate to alert Linda via email or phone call. Thanks for your patience during our period of staffing challenges.
CONGRATULATIONS to CCS Database Manager Roger Anderson on twenty years in that capacity as of Friday, August 15. Between that tenure and his previous time in the trenches at CCS libraries, Roger has long known where every skeleton in the database is buried, and thanks to him (and many others) there are a lot less of them. We and the database are all far better off for his commitment to quality and the credibility he has accumulated over the years!
(Ken Victorson is on vacation this week so there is no "Did You Know?" column.)
