CCS News

FEBRUARY 8, 2008

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
Record Storm - thanks to all of you who reported your status and kept us informed of closures and other issues as we managed through the two storms. This really helped us as we "tag teamed" and monitored the situation from the office and home. We found that s-help was most effective and the Webley system fielded calls well too. It is good that we have two methods in a storm in case one way fails.

Computer Room Staff
- Due to illness in the computer room, our column this week is short. Thanks for your continued patience as we continue to look for a new person and the rest of us return to health.

LIBRARY CLOSING:
The Wilmette Public Library will be closed for Staff Institute Day on Friday, February 22, 2008. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, February 23rd.

PATRON PROFILE:
Since we don’t have much else this week, we’ll nag our libraries about cleaning up the Profiles for patrons. Roger Anderson recently sent out an e-mail memo and spread sheet of patrons with the PUBLIC Profile designated for non-CCS reciprocal borrowers. In many cases, other information in the patron record like the bar code or city suggests that the patron may actually be local. Assigning the wrong Profile will affect loan periods, fines, place in the hold queue, etc., so it is important that the Profile be correct. Please be sure to clean up your library’s patron records accordingly. Roger will be happy to do further data massages/sorts for you upon request. Thanks!
