FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:

SMS Update:
Early next week we will email a document, to the Circulation Department, with specifics explaining SMS.   Patron self registration for SMS still continues to be tested in Enterprise for proper integration and functionality. This is not to be confused with the functionality of SMS itself.  As stated before, please be aware that there is a delivered feature, in Enterprise, that provides an interface allowing patrons to sign up for SMS texting which is NOT fully featured enough to suit our consortium's environment and we will not be using this delivered option.

ProPay:
ProPay has been fixed in Enterprise and has been successfully tested. If you have fines and do not see the button in the Fines tab, then you may need to refresh your cache by pressing F5. There are still issues in using ProPay in WorkFlows – a patch is being made by Sirsi and we will let you know once it is installed. In the time being, please refrain from using ProPay in Workflows.

(There’s obviously a lot more going on here but the other Enterprise information is in our daily email updates and/or in individual WonderDesk ticket updates.)

WATCH YOUR EMAIL FOR ENTERPRISE INFORMATION:
Beyond the ongoing updates, please watch for two imminent dispatches from CCS:

*On Friday afternoon, 9/12, we will confirm the Monday launch of Enterprise and provide guidance for what needs to happen Monday.

*On Monday we will send an email confirming, updating and reiterating.

Counting down...

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:

Enterprise Early Birds:
For libraries planning on launching Enterprise early (soft launch), please submit a WonderDesk ticket for any changes, customizations or configurations you need assistance with.  We know there are some pending Enterprise configurations for some libraries that still need to be done. These will get attended to prior to soft launch.

Battery Backup Test Reminder:
As a reminder, on Sunday, 9/7/2014, we will conduct a test of the emergency battery backup procedures here at CCS. During this test the server will be offline for 30 minutes between 9:30AM and
10:00AM.

SMS Update:
SMS continues to be heavily tested.  There was a delay in receiving and importing our SSL certificate, which is a key part in our SMS implementation. As of today, we have successfully imported the certificate and can now continue our testing with SMS.  Once testing is complete, we will email out specifics on how to implement SMS in your Enterprise Profile. We still anticipate SMS being available at soft launch.

ProPay Issues In Enterprise:
There is still an issue where the option to pay fines with ProPay is not showing up in Enterprise. All Enterprise profiles are currently linked to E-Pay.  This link will take the user to the E-Pay website , but will then kick them to the BiblioCommons website and prompt for a login. We are in communication with Sirsi to get this issue resolved and will have ProPay in place and tested ASAP.

AUTHORITIES TRAINING NEWS:
The Library of Congress has graciously invited four catalogers from CCS to attend their online NACO training. The training is a series of webinars and exercises that goes from Sept. 8-24. After the completion of this training and a period of review, these catalogers will be able to add or edit national level authority records into OCLC.

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:

COMPUTER ROOM HOLIDAY STAFFING:
The computer room will be staffed on Sunday, (8/31) from 11:30AM to 5:00PM. CCS will be closed on Monday, (9/1) for the Labor Day holiday. All reports and notices will run as normal on both days.

BATTERY BACKUP TEST:
On Sunday, 9/7/2014, we will conduct a test of the emergency battery backup procedures here at CCS. During this test the server will be offline for 30 minutes between 9:30AM and 10:00AM.  During those 30 minutes patrons will not be able to log in to BiblioCommons to view their account or place holds. On Tuesday, 9/2/2014, we will place a system wide message on BiblioCommons alerting the patrons of this outage during this test.

BRIEF SMS UPDATE:
As mentioned in previous updates, we do have a SMS solution set in place and it is currently undergoing heavy testing. We anticipate this being available for use within Enterprise at a library’s Soft Launch and/or Go Live date.  An SMS update email will be sent out soon, after testing, containing the specifics of the SMS solution and how to move forward with implementing it in your Enterprise
Profile.
CCS CERTIFIED:
CCS is getting SSL certificates for both the ccslib.org and ccs.nsls.lib.il.us domains.  The initial use of these certificates will be for the patron self-registration page for SMS, within Enterprise, to keep authentication and patron information secure to our servers.  We are also planning on implementing the SSL certificates when we roll out the new CCS website.

PROPAY SETUP:
Setup is virtually complete in both WorkFlows & Enterprise for ProPay transactions, with the exception of 2 libraries that have yet to turn in the questionnaire. It should be ready for testing by Tuesday, (09/02).  An email stating such will go out at that time.   Instructions to libraries for setting up mag stripe card readers at work stations was sent out 8/28.

AUTHORITIES NEWS:
This week, CCS sent a file of 7,295 bibliographic records to Marcive for authorities processing. 5,736 records were updated and returned to CCS, as well as 3,030 new authority records. All of these records were loaded into our system.

Next week, two more files from Marcive will be loaded into our system. One contains 3,474 updated authority records and the other contains 380 new authority records  that were needed in our database, but were not available before this time.

BIBLIOCOMMONS LOGIN PROBLEM UPDATE:
The CCS staff and BiblioCommons are working on documenting the problems and remedial measures that bedeviled everyone for ten days.  BiblioCommons is formulating a response to our questions about their initial explanation.  When we have something definitive, we will email it.  Again, our apologies for both the disruption and the dearth of communication.

HAPPY HOLIDAY WEEKEND TO ALL FROM THE CCS STAFF!

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:
SP5 Upgrade - As a reminder, the Symphony 3.4.1 SP5 upgrade is scheduled for Monday, August 18 through Tuesday, August 19.  An SP5 upgrade memo and installation procedures have already been sent to your maintenance coordinators.  You may start the SP5 WorkFlows client upgrade anytime after 9:30 PM on Monday the 18th.  Please DO NOT login/connect your upgraded WorkFlows client to the Production Server until after 7:00 AM on Tuesday the 19th.

As for reports, all reports will be compiled.  Those that compile before 4:00 AM will compile at their regular time.  Those that compile between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM will start to compile at 7:00 AM, once the server is back online and will be completed by 8:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

BiblioCommons Issues:  As you may have noticed we are still encountering problems with BiblioCommons.  We are working closely with them to resolve the issues.  BiblioCommons believes that it may be a hardware issue but this is still yet to be determined.  We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing.

Due to some CCS staff on vacation next week, there will be no issue of CCS NEWS.

FROM THE COMPUTER ROOM:

Office Renovation Update:
We are happy to announce that the renovation in the computer room areas is nearly complete after the installation of new tile in the shipping/receiving and storage areas. Once all of our things are moved back, we can breathe a sigh of relief and get back to the “normal” duties at hand.

Network Redesign Update:
We are continuing to work with our consultant on the redesign of our network to ensure its efficiency and security. This redesign will include the move to our new AT&T fiber line, which has been installed but currently being configured for our environment by AT&T and ICN. A timeline for the changeover will be sent out after the configuration and evaluation are complete.

We estimate that the platform migration will be completed by 11:30 pm on the 12th.  Once the migration is completed, Tim will email CCS to test the system and prepare to go live. There is no scheduled downtime during library hours for the migration.  We expect that the normal reports will be caught up by 9 am on the 13th.

Symphony SP5 Upgrade Reminder:

Please continue to test the new release so we can verify that things work as needed. Specifics about the client upgrade will be sent out to the Maintenance Coordinators group next week.

Server Upgrade:
We plan to migrate over to our new Production Server overnight, between Tuesday, August 12th and Wednesday, August 13th.  We expect the new Production Server to be live the morning of August 13th, prior to library operating hours, and anticipate no down time during this process.

Symphony Upgrade:
We will install the Symphony 3.4.1 SP5 upgrade between the end of business on Monday, August 18th and Tuesday, August 19th.  We anticipate a couple of hours early Tuesday morning before anyone opens to load this, but will provide more detail between now and then.  A client upgrade will be necessary; the usual info about that will follow.

AS A REMINDER, PLEASE HAVE YOUR STAFF TEST SP5 SO WE CAN VERIFY THAT THINGS WORK AS NEEDED.  THE SAME FUNCTIONALITY WE WERE EXPECTING TO LOAD IN SP3-4 IS WHAT SHOULD BE TESTED.

CCS Website Password Change:

In keeping with our policy of changing our web site password every four months, the next ccslib.org Members Only page password change will be effective on Friday, August 1, 2014.  The password will be generated with a Random Password Generator, and will be eight characters in length containing at least one special character, one numerical character and one uppercase character. Example only: l1bRary!

A reminder of the password change will be sent again Thursday, July 31, 2014.  We will send out the new password that day to the groups mentioned two paragraphs above.

CCS Help Desk Searching:
Search capabilities have been added to the Help Desk for the libraries.  The link can be found under the Help Desk tab. Clicking on it will bring you to the search page where you can input a variety of criteria to scan your library’s tickets, both open and closed.  If you have any questions on using it, please contact Jim O’Day or Frank Correa.

Listserv Change Requests:
As a reminder, please use the CCS Wonder Desk ticketing system when requesting an addition, change or removal from any of our mailing lists.
